Fresh snow! The High Sierra's are finally getting snow. It has been a very light year for snow. And we need it. The February calendar reminds us that the firefall (natural-intense-spectacular)is upon us.

Yosemite National Park each February hosts one of natures most beautiful events.

It is not a constant, nature is complex and so is the firefall...the elements must be present.

We need water flowing over horsetail falls, we need clear sky's, we need the right conditions for the sunlight to stream across the valley, to strike the wet granite and reflect back thru the mist and water to light up the falls like molten steel in a steel mill.

These conditions best occur in the last half of
February, at the end of the day.

Today, I am in Morro Bay, CA. I am on my way to Yosemite next week to see mother nature smile again.
